About Us
GlobalYell promotes and teaches people about vocal music; the founder, Andy Ross, is a classically-trained singer, with a passion for passing on knowledge and information about good vocal technique, habits and interpretation.
GlobalYell runs an annual performance event, IslandSongs, which creates a public performance of musical theatre in a weekend, and Singing Saturdays, a training performance group for young people.
The charity also uses music to help improve the mental and physical health of older people in the care centres across the islands through our Art for Social Care project.
GlobalYell is governed by a board of directors, currently from Shetland, England, South Africa and France. The charity holds its AGM in the Spring of the year, and new directors are chosen, annual accounts are checked, and the aims of the charity are looked over at this meeting.
