The decline in wool
This week an article on BBC News has highlighted the decline in British wool. For those of us in the industry it is unwelcome news...
The article talks about people being so used to wool that it disappears amongst all the other fibres that are available and is not valued enough. Here in Shetland we do value our wool and the success of Wool Week and new people entering the market is proof that our industry is alive and well. But we would do well to heed the warnings and continuously strive for new markets and new uses for this wonder fibre that we all know and love.
