William Klein

William Klein, the photographer of city life and fashion, passed away earlier this month.

Klein studied painting briefly with Fernand Leger at the Sorbonne in Paris but turned to photographs after winning a camera in a game of poker. During his life he published books, created and directed films and documentaries, and helped to revolutionise photography as an artistic medium. He worked with Vogue magazine and, in this 1962 Vogue photoshoot, used light to transform and capture the fun of fashion. William Klein passed away in Paris at the age of 96.
