What's On April 2017

April ends with a new tapestry...

Chris Ofili has been working with the Dovecot Tapestry Studio to create a commissioned piece based, apparently, on classical mythology and Trinidadian stories and colours. Sounds interesting. The exhibition opens at The National Gallery, London, on 26th April 2017 and ends 28th August after which the tapestry will be on display in the Clothworkers' Hall. 

In Shetland:

a small exhibition of underwater photography is on display in the Museum in Lerwick. If you want to see how nature puts together the most outrageous colours (and gets away with it) have a look in the foyer.

the Textile Museum is now open in Lerwick. I have not see the current show yet but I do know that one of our pieces is on display downstairs!

the Old Haa in Yell has an exhibition of textile pieces in the current show. I have not seen it yet but I look forward to having a look at it. Apparently some of the pieces are whimsical and other humorous...
