A couple of weeks of weaving

Last week we had an international group of young visitors complemented this week by a visitor who is coming up for an 89th birthday. And they all enjoyed weaving!

The first group was part of an exchange with schools and Mid Yell School organised with Kirsty and Maggie to run a workshop for the students. A cultural mix of students from Spain, Reunion and Shetland came up to the studio and spent a happy couple of hours weaving under the tutelage of our team. They produced some brilliant patterns and colours which you can see in the picture opposite. You can see some more pictures on our Facebook page

The highlight of this week has been a visit from Chrissy and Cecilia. Chrissy, born and bred in Yell,  is coming up to eighty-nine and Cecilia, who is a friend, asked if a visit to the studio was possible.  Kirsty tied on a warp to a loom in readiness for the visit and on Friday the duo arrived and spent a very pleasant hour learning how to weave and drinking tea and coffee with us. We love having visitors and showing people who like learning new things is always fantastic! Thank you both for visiting us and do come back any time.
