Weaver in Residence 2007 - Angharad McLaren

Angharad came to Shetland to spend a summer at the Centre. She made some beautiful designs for scarves and shawls which are on sale in Lerwick's Museum and Archive, and Spider's Web shop.

Angharad has now gone on to create some lovely blinds for the Museum restaurant, and is working on some new designs for the Centre.

While her time was spent developing her work, Angharad also helped us enormously with classes and events, including Adult Learning classes, workshops for young people in school in Unst, and an inspiration walk followed by a workshop.

We also gathered rushes for a Spanish basket-maker to use to create a Coroza, a woven cape. The Centre was covered in reeds and seeds for a couple of months!

Have a look at her website - http://www.angharadmclaren.co.uk for some of the designs and work.

Thank you, Angharad. We look forward to seeing more of your work and to you spending time in Shetland with us.
