Walter Oltmann's Gombessa

Walter Oltmann's Gombessa.

Walter Oltmann uses different materials to reflect on life and its origins.

In his work, the artist uses wire and thread, paint and colour, to create sculptures and images of the natural world. He has an especial interest in fossils and prehistoric life - Visitors to the studio might remember the white embroidery on while canvas that was hanging in the building of the coelacanth - and in 2015 I bought a large triptych painting of the same kind of fish. The painting has now been shipped to New Zealand and is hanging in our home in Greymouth as you can see in the picture.

The hall is almost finished and we are now planning the next steps of our new life on the Coast. News to follow...
