Vincent and the looms
Last week, I blogged about the Getty Museum and their generosity in giving free access to their archive.
One of our regular readers has spoken to me about going onto the Getty Museum site and seeing, as the first thing, a picture of a weaver at a loom, an illustration for a talk about Vincent van Gogh. Apparently the artist had been very interested in looms and weave, maybe because of his own attempts to create a machine for helping him with perspective and proportion which mirrored parts of the loom, and because of his interest in the workmanship that weavers develop.
Thanks to all the readers who send things in for me to blog about. Keep 'em coming!
