A beautiful kimono
A few weeks ago a friend-of-the-blog sent in a fascinating link to an exploration of a beautiful kimono.
The link is to the BBC programme Moving Pictures and this half-hour episode is a conversation about a piece in London's Victoria and Albert Museum; an outer kimono or uchikake with an intriguing history. Here is the link to the Google Arts and Culture site where the kimono is shown in amazing detail. You can follow along with the programme and look at the piece closely by zooming in very close. Wonderful!
I know that some of you won't be able to hear the audio because it isn't available in your country, and for that I apologise. Do see if you can track it down some other way because it is ideal listening on a Sunday morning with a cup of something hot and some time to savour the experience.
Thank you, Thelma, for this. I loved listening and learning about the piece.
