Tweed as inspiration
The Shetland Tweed Company's cloth turns up in all sorts of places!
Last summer Hilary and Peter and their Swedish friends (hello all!) came to the studio in Yell and we ended up having a fascinating and wide-ranging conversation about all things textile. Hilary left with some scraps of fabric which were to be used in an entry to a competition for The Scottish Quilting Show.
A few weeks ago I received an email with a picture of the Gold-Medal-Prize-Winning-Quilt by Carrick Quilters, and there is our piece of weaving, right-hand side, centre. Not only has the piece, inspired by waves, been incorporated but it apparently was the starting point for the group deciding to use natural fibres, hand-dyed items and Scottish materials as far as possible in their work. How fantastic!
Congratulations on the award and thank you for sending a picture of your quilt to share on the blog. It is a lovely piece of work.
