Turing and computer music

Alan Turing, the man who helped to break the Enigma code during the War, has become even more famous recently.

Scientists from New Zealand have restored the first ever music to be composed by computer, some very familar tunes, and it was Mr Turing who was responsible. Given the fact that this was in 1951, what an astonishing achievement; the precursor to our modern musical capabilities. Have a read about the project on the British Library website. Absolutely fascinating.
