Music of the trees

How do you play a tree trunk? Sounds like a rather obscure riddle but it isn't!

German artist, Bartholomäus Traubeck, invented a rather clever way of doing just that. A slice of trunk placed on his record player can be read with light which is converted into piano notes. The result is rather eerie and beautiful, I think. If you want to hear what other trees sound like, have a listen to the samples on this website. What a lovely idea and invention. Do you like it?

As always, thank you to our reader for sending in this lovely piece.
