The launch of the Centre - July 2007

The Centre was officially launched in July 2007 by Joanna Foster, Chair of the Crafts Council (UK) and Ann Sutton, creator of ASF Weave, and now patron of ASF Shetland.

The launch was very well attended, with councillors, our local MSP, makers and artists coming together to celebrate.

Ann Sutton gave a workshop later in the week, with Shetland College students, and local makers invited to take part. The workshop looked at deconstructing a sample weave and understanding the structures that made it. It was a very intensive workshop, and, in the words of one the attendees, it was "Brilliant! I learnt things I would never have experienced otherwise. More of the same please!"
