The 1950's
On telly, in the morning, there has been a really interesting programme about life in the 1950's, The 1952 Show A friend told me about it and so I have watched it this morning. It is a look at all the amazing things that happened in the decade, including fabulous fabrics. I was reminded of the cushions that we had made last year by Emma Blain, using the 50's as inspiration. I love the colours of the decade and the amazing freedom that happened after the wartime restrictions were lifted in all aspects of life.
On a recent trip to London, I realised that the capital has changed very rapidly in the past few months. I was down in January and two months later, it feels very different. There is a sense of energy and vibrancy with an edge, particularly in design and the many small shows that are popping up all over the place. We went to Pick Me Up at Somerset House which bowled me over. How graphic design has evolved!
