Textiles for therapy
Bethlem Royal Hospital has an Occupational Therapy Centre, and the Bethlem Gallery has a show presenting the textiles work of patients and staff until the 17th March.
The making of textiles has long been used for therapeutic purposes. Knitting, sewing and weaving offer repetitive tasks with a rhythm which can help with physical and mental ailments. This show, The Fabric of Being, presents the social benefits of making alongside their therapeutic benefits. You can see the exhibition at Bethlem Gallery and take part in a workshop next weekend on lantern making.
