Shetland Wool Week 2021

Shetland Wool Week is a celebration of the wool industries of the islands and has been growing since it was started eleven years ago. 

Last year the event was cancelled due to Covid, and this year the decision has been made to cancel it again because of the ongoing uncertainty. However it is not all bad news. The festivities are planned to be going online from 25 September through to 3 October 2021.

At this very difficult time for everyone it is heartening to see how the community in the islands is continuing to think about safety and prioritising the health of islanders and visitors. I am sure that, when circumstances allow, the islands will once again buzz with visitors, eager to explore and take part in a rich textiles tradition.
