The Shetland Tweed Company throws
Inspired by an area of Shetland called Muckle Ayre, these throws have been a long time in the making.
Over the summer Alvin-the-loom in the studio was threaded up and weaving this vibrant cloth when Alexa noticed that it was skipping threads. It took ages to find the problem and in the meantime no weaving happened. So it was with a huge sense of relief that the problem was finally identified and weaving recommenced. Now the cloth is done and off the loom. It is being finished in short lengths and being made into throws first of all, followed by wraps.
The studio seems to be settling down again into routine and, fingers crossed, we will have our usual five cloths a year available at regular intervals. Isn't it good to feel like things are getting better?
