Songs and spells of Orkney and Shetland

Jeanette Nowak is a local artist and her new exhibition has just opened in Yell at the Old Haa. 

Jeanette is a painter and a talented basket-maker who uses rushes, reeds, heather, irises and dock amongst other things to weave graceful containers and baskets. I was lucky enough to be invited to sing at the opening (Leechcraft: Songs and spells of Orkney and Shetland composed by Peter Davis) and it was good to see so many people enjoying the sunshine and Jeanette's work. If you can, get along to the Old Haa Museum in Yell and see the work on display in the Shetland Gallery too.
