Space to think and be creative....

We are very proud of our studio at ASF Shetland and want to share it with you!

We have some great equipment up here in Yell in the studio. There are three 36 inch AVL dobby looms, and a smaller studio loom, all twenty four shaft. The loom have iMacs attached running Weavemaker software, which is very flexible and easy software to use.

Beginning this summer, we are going to start running workshops and events using these looms to teach and train. When the looms are not being used, we are offering the equipment for a daily rate of £15 or weekly rate  of £75.

The looms and equipment at the studio are available for group bookings too; please enquire using the form below.

The studio houses a reference library of books and magazines, has broadband internet access, warping equipment and yarn store. We would like to encourage people to book time at the studio, to research, sample and create. If you would like to book time, please send us an email and we can check availability.

One of the unique aspects of Shetland is the dynamic and creative community spirit that exists. We have a number of makers and artists living here, and we regularly hold events and workshops to bring people together. Time spent at ASF Shetland will introduce you to other like-minded people; enquire about networking events and contacts using the form below.

We are open to visitors but please contact us prior to arrival to check that someone is at the studio to let you in and show you around. If you do happen to come in on the off-chance, Bluemull Development Company next door will be pleased to show you around.
