Sokari Douglas Camp CBE

It is only natural that Sokari's work uses oil cans. Oil is important to the economy of Nigeria, the sculptor's country of birth. By making use of these drums, the artist comments on the environment, heritage and the relationships between Africa and Europe in pieces like Blind Love and Grace (pictured). This piece is a reworking of a Botticelli painting which uses oil cans, paint, copper, aluminium and gold leaf.
