Shetland Business Network

We are members of the Shetland Business Network, a dynamic group of entrepreneurs and business people, who meet up to discuss, plan, advise each other, and generally support the growth of businesses in the islands. Last night, we held our meeting, using the magic of Skype, with three areas - Lerwick, Yell and Fair Isle.

I was joined in Yell by folk from Unst, Frances Wilson, a potter who uses fine lace in her work, and Cheryl Jamieson, glass-maker extraordinaire. We sat in the comfortable sofas at Bluemull Development Company, who provide office services and support services for business and remote working, chatted and discussed with the other groups, typed in comments when we wanted to without disturbing the flow of the conversations, and also researched on the Web because we had a laptop and a big screen projection. At the end of the meeting, I emailed comments that we had made, links and websites that we had discussed to our attendees and the main group so that we can follow-up.

It was a really invigorating and exciting experience and I would encourage anyone interested in setting up business to join the group. John Morris is the chair and he can be contacted on johnmorris08@gmail.com.
