September sightings
Schools have gone back, the days are shortening rapidly especially this far North, and our weather is changing. But there is still plenty to see and do outdoors.
This week we had some good days and a couple of rainy and windy days, but that has not stopped today dawning bright and sunny, nor did it stop the orca continuing their journeys around the islands (they were in Lerwick harbour last night - see the Facebook page), or an otter from sunbathing on a rock near to the sea. This latter was a walk near to my home in Yell, a walk out to the remains of a broch, and the otter (can you see it in the photo on the right?) dozed peacefully in the sunshine before quietly and silently slipping into the sea and away. The good weather today means that the Yell Show will have a splendid day for showing off the livestock and we are looking forward to judging the bairns' crafts. It is going to be a good month...
