It is Scandinavia time!

The excitement in the studio is mounting. Scandinavia and even further is beckoning...

A few weeks back, The Shetland Tweed Company was featured in VÄV magazine. If you haven't seen the article, follow this link. It was a fantastic piece and has brought enquiries and comments from all over the world, but most from Sweden where the magazine is published. Groups of excited weavers are planning trips over to see us throughout the summer and we are looking forward to meeting them.

But it is not only weavers who are getting in touch. The textile tours this year are full in the summer and we are running an extra one in August to cope with demand and, yes, you guessed it, it is the Scandianvian visitors who are in the majority.

So it is no surprise that I am shortly about to embark on a voyage of my own. Next week I shall be going to Greenland via Glasgow and Iceland with a small group of people from Iceland, the Faroe Islands, Scotland Mainland, Orkney and Denmark for a week as part of a "getting-to-know-each-other" event. I hope that we can then start to bring people from across this fascinating region to Shetland and vice versa. The fact that this whole region has a heritage rich in textiles is especially appealing.

Sadly there is the possibility that the blog won't be published for a couple of weeks. I am not sure what the situation is regarding broadband in the island on whichwe are staying but I shall be back with many pictures and stories, I am sure.
