Weaving makes it to the RA
The Royal Academy of Arts Summer Show this year will include a tapestry from Caron Penney.
Using the idea of signs and symbols from New York's busy pedestrian crossings, this piece (opposite) is called STOP. No prizes for guessing why. I do not know if it is the first time that a weaver has been chosen to have work shown in the Summer Exhibition but I am excited to know that this piece is going to be there.
Incidentally there is going to be a new show Radical Geometry opening at the Royal Academy in July all about the art of South America over the last 100 years. See it if you are in the capital over the summer.
