The disappearance of the puffins

Our summers in Shetland are full of the sounds of birds; larks and sparrows, curlews and gulls. But for lots of people puffins are a favourite.

So it is very sad to read on the news about the decline of these charismatic little birds. A few years ago I wrote a story for my nieces and nephews which is about to be published,(News about that coming in November) all about a puffin. I hate to think that one day there may not be any puffins in the summers, brightening the cliffs in Shetland and making us smile with their unique flying skills. I wonder if there is anything we can do to help?
