Articles of the Week - number thirty seven - protest clothing

Protesting is on the rise. Not surprising really...

This year we have had Black Lives Matter, the climate emergency and globalisation and capitalism marches. All of these have been born out of injustice and each has changed the world a little bit. In Brick Lane, one artist recycles old clothes by bleaching and then printing onto the fabric. Each piece from War is Illegal is unique with images of Bob Marley posters, anti-capitalism slogans, microphones, Black Lives Matter texts, vinyl record motifs, etc printed in glorious colour across it. As a reflection of the current state of our world these pieces capture the zeitgeist perfectly.
