A very creative partnership

Don't you love it when something wonderful happens out of the blue?

This week, as light reading on our textile tour (which is great fun with our current international group!) I took along a book called Walking the Block by Jane Weir. The book is beautifully printed and caught the eye immediately on a recent trip south. On opening it, I was bowled over...

Phyllis Barron and Dorothy Larcher had a long partnership during which they designed and printed many lovely textiles using mainly natural dyes and hand-print blocks. This book tells their story as though we were looking at vignettes of their lives and, what is more, it is all done through poetry! What is not to love about a book that places pictures of the lovely textile patterns next to a poem written about that particular pattern? A wonderfully enchanting find, created with love and affection for the ideas of Phyllis and Dorothy.
