The Open University
Here in the UK, we are very lucky to have access to many online courses and classes, amongst them the Open University.
This week, I have been watching a very good programme on the BBC, the last in the series, all about modern classical music. The programme has taken me on an amazing ride through some of the music of the last century as it moved into the 21st Century, and I learned about some new-to-me composers, heard some thrilling music, and now know a lot more about Minimalism, Moderism and some of the other -isms that have taken music on a journey into discords and scattered rhythms back to melody.
Linked to this is an Open University course which you can access here. It looks like a fun way to spend a few hours, browsing the website and finding out new things, and there are courses to sign up to which will teach you all you ever wanted to know about music. Isn't that fantastic?
