Opera and technology
On the day that we have decided to get tickets to see and hear a new opera The Sunken Garden by Michel Van der Aa which features 3D film projections, there has also been news of the Toronto Symphony which uses new technology. The piece, composed by Tod Machover, used contributions from volunteers who also manipulated the piece which was then performed by the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. As one website put it – music through crowd-sourcing! The most collaborative piece of composed music that I have heard can be heard in parts on the BBC website:- http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-21719783
