Open Day at Shetland Textile Museum

This Saturday, 23rd June, the Textile Museum in Lerwick is open to the public with free entry.

The Textile Museum is a wonderful resource, full of interesting pieces and excellent volunteers and staff who will happily demonstrate and talk about the textiles of the islands. This Saturday (yesterday for those who are receiving the blog by email!) the Bod of Gremista, where the Museum is housed, is open from 11am until 5pm. Head along there for the last day of the exhibition Fae da Laft, bits and pieces from various attics which have been unearthed especially for this show.

If you have missed this, don't worry. The Museum is open through the summer and there is bound to be something of interest. In a place like Shetland with its amazing textiles heritage and history, the Museum is a great resource and proves that the art of making in the isles is alive and well. You can find out more about the Museum on the website.
