Lotus silk
Lotus plants have been used for centuries as food and for their beautiful flowers. Now it is becoming known as a luxury fibre.
The stems of lotus are usually discarded however they contain sticky fibres that can be rolled together to produce a fine thread. The threads are produced and woven to make cloth in a process that takes weeks. The resulting fabric is known for its softness and slight elasticity, and is becoming known by the fashion industry as the newest natural luxury material.
