All about Liberty

I am sure many of you will know Liberty, the London iconic shop. Well, last weekend had a Liberty sort of flavour.

If you happen to be in London in the next few weeks, get along the Fashion and Textile Museum in Bermondsey Street for Liberty in Fashion. It was luck that got me there just as a tour was starting and it was great to be able to walk around the show, listening to people who know the pieces talking about the history of the clothes and the company. I cannot say that I ever really enjoyed the floral patterns but now I appreciate what a success they are and how they have been influenced by the previous decades. Of course, my favourite is the pink mandarin collar jacket from the 1960's!

And, as if that wasn't enough, the following day I went to the Open Call at LibertyI took cloth to the  shop to see if they would like to stock it and although we did not manage to get it into the store because Liberty deals with cotton and linen, not wool, the compliments and comments that our cloth got were very pleasing. So, thank you Liberty. It was a great weekend learning more about this London landmark.
