Leila Alaoui

Leila Alaoui was a photographer who worked to highlight the migration and refugee crisis through NGOs and magazines.

In 2016, the French-Moroccan was killed in Burkina Faso while on assignment and an exhibition at Somerset House is a retrospective of her work. It includes the famous photographs of people in costume, presenting a view that is often missing from mainstream representations of refugees and migrants. A foundation continues her work and preserves her legacy.
