Launching The Shetland Tweed Company
Last weekend Kirsty and I launched our new venture, The Shetland Tweed Company with the help of Tavish Scott, the islands' MSP.
The launch was weeks in the planning. Floors had to be painted, walls repaired, pictures hung and rehung, menus planned, drinks bought, exhibition put up... You know how it goes! Gradually the day grew closer and closer and on Saturday 16th July Tavish Scott arrived along with another seventy guests to wish us good luck. What a fun evening it was.
I gave a short speech to thank everyone and then Tavish said a few words about the industry in Shetland and about our role in that industry. Thoughtful and insightful, in a few words Tavish made us feel very proud and confident.
We then moved to the exhibition area where Kirsty had made a woollen braided cable which Tavish cut. Then it was onto photos and we could all relax with drinks and nibbles.
Thank you everyone who came along to wish us well, to Tavish for so willingly supporting us and to the volunteers who helped us to setup and clear away afterwards. Onwards and upwards!
Here are some pictures taken by us and by Charlie Inkster, our own local photographer in Yell. Thanks Charlie.
