Karachi in thread

A friend of ours recently left Pakistan after a long period of work in Karachi. The way he has commemorated his stay is beautiful... and brilliant!

On a recent visit to welcome our friend to his new home, we were very lucky to see the embroidery that he had commissioned from the fabulous designer Bunto Kazmi. The panel celebrates the skyline and buildings of the city in gold and silver threads, tiny stitches and the most incredible eye for detail.

The embroidery took a team of four men a year to make, with frequent stops for checks and undoing of areas that were not perfect. It has attracted a lot of attention from the press and public, and is considered to be a museum quality work. True attention to the little things that matter and the result is absolutely amazing. Congratulations. What a way to celebrate a period in your life! And thank you for allowing us to see and photograph the piece.
