The art of Jordan

Regular readers of the blog (thank you all) will know we have a library to which we add constantly. This week's purchase is a book on Jordan.

Produced by Merseyside National Museums and Galleries in 1991, the book covers a history of this amazing part of the world, and then goes through each art form in turn: pottery, art and technology, mosaics, writing, costume and jewellery. I must say that it is a little surreal to be walking down the road to work, surrounded by birds and sheep and moorland while reading about a civilisation which left artefacts from 200,000 years ago! But fascinating to understand more about Jordan and its place in history.

The library is open to visitors although it is not a lending library. If you would like to come and see what we have, please email and we would be delighted to show you. We are nearly finished with the cataloguing and will put the book list on our website when it is done.
