Johannesburg Art Gallery

We all know South African colours and the beautiful beadwork that comes from the country, but I have not seen anything like the pieces in the Johannesburg Art Gallery before. Dating from the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, these pieces are tucked away in the smallest of the galleries and are well worth searching for.

I must apologise for the quality of the pictures and the lack of explanation. The pieces are behind perspex or glass which reflects in the sunshine and it was difficult to get good photographs. The explanations were similarly difficult to photograph; if you put your mouse over the pictures some explanation comes up. If anyone has any information I can pass on, please send it to me and I will do so. I can supply much bigger images if anyone wants to see more detail. Again, please email if you would like that.
