Making Iran's musical past live again

The news that Iran's Museum of Music has been working with a German University to digitise vinyl records has led us on an interesting internet journey.

Starting with this report from the BBC, we headed across to YouTube for this tour of the museum, accompanied by the music of the region including a unique rendition of a well-known piece!

Then we found the Center for Iranian Music at Carnegie Mellon University where there is information about the music of the country, and loads of free music for downloading came up in a search for Iranian Music in Google. What a very interesting and informative way to spend a wet and windy breakfast morning!
