Inspiration for warps
We have a busy few months ahead with interns, visitors and volunteers. Each one has a different project to do while they are here.
Rachel is here for two weeks and has been working to make new warps for workshops in July. Each of the warps uses the same colours but in differing amounts so one warp is very stripey and another has solid blocks of colour. The pictures are of the warps, and then one of a warp going onto the loom. Aren't they lovely? The inspiration for these warps was a clover flower; yes, just the one. Who knew that there was so much colour in a single bloom?!
Emily arrives for a few days next week and is going to be working to do some sampling for us for new cloths. We have been working on ideas for cloths based on seascapes and Alicja has done a really beautiful warp for that project. Emily is going to be doing some work on landscapes.
Next week Simone arrives from Switzerland. Simone is coming for a month, and will be overlapping with Gabriele who arrives in the middle of July. Each of them has a different project, also to do with sea colours and landscapes. This is the first time that we have had two interns working at the same time so it will be a fun time, I am sure. Ideas always seem to bounce around when two people get together, don't they?
If you want to see some of the work, come along the studio and have a look. It is already proving to be very exciting this summer and we are looking forward to seeing what everyone will come up with. Thank you to all of you who are going to be here, working with us. We hope you enjoy yourselves.
