From the subcontinent

Two textile stories this week about India have been in the headlines.

In the week that Ghandi's portable spinning wheel sold at auction for £110,000, a sum which was far above the estimated sale price, other news came in about the unfortunate weavers of Guntur district .who have been hit by disastrous floods which has soaked yarn and destroyed equipment.

Thank you to the reader who sent this in and has helped to raise awareness of the issue that others around the world face in making the cloth that we wear and use.
