London's Horniman Museum

On a hill overlooking London stands the Horniman Museum, a unique and wonderful treasure which is well worth a visit.

It is cold in the capital at the moment but that did not stop a trip out to the Horniman. It has been a few years since we last visited and there have been lots of changes. The vision for the collection, though, remains the same to "bring the world to Forest Hill" and in doing so, to educate and enrich the lives of the community.

One of the interesting parts of the collection is the costume aspect. Clothing from across the world is displayed alongside other artefacts; Inuit, Asian, African, European... There are some fascinating items in the cabinets and lots more than a quick visit can do justice to.

If you cannot get to the Horniman, have a look instead at their website. You can search for items and see some of the collection in photographs, including this beautiful blanket from Canada's Northwest.
