Nicholas Hlobo

A visit to Tate Modern on the banks of the Thames is a great way to find out about new artists. This week I learned about South African Nicholas Hlobo.

Nicholas works with unusual materials like rubber from the inner tubes of tyres, stitching them together to create sculptures and pictures which reflect his Xhosa heritage and he uses these to broach difficult subjects in his homeland such as sexuality. I love these pictures and I am very excited to have learned about a new-to-me artist.
