Opera with a difference

A reader of the blog sent in this link to an intriguing idea and a multi-species opera!

Set in Taiwan's Lanyang Plain, the opera combines lots of sounds and images with text to explore and explain how farmers work the land with and in competition to nature. It is strangely mesmerising, quite slow but a lovely idea, and in the best traditions of opera, it has conflict and resolution at its heart. Have a go and see what you think...
