Gladys Paulus

Hinterland explores war, colonialism, gender and race through Ancestral Healing costumes, created after the artist's father died.

Gladys Paulus uses felt (and other materials) to make masks and costumes that explore her family's history. Born in the Netherlands and based in the UK, this exhibition was closed by coronavirus so a film was made to show the works. Both the film and pictures of the installation are available from the artist's website here. Hinterland looks fascinating and marvellous.
