Florence at Christmas

This year we are celebrating Christmas in the beautiful city of Florence.

Florence is known for its weaving, silk cloth of the finest quality has been made here for centuries. So one of our first stops has been to Antico Setificio Fiorentino, a silk weaving factory that has existed since 1786. We booked a short guided tour and saw the looms, silenced for Christmas holidays, and the cloth that comes off the machinery for sale around the world. Here are some of the pictures of the factory, the looms and the wonderful fabrics that the company produces. We have bought the book about the factory and this will be available in our library in the New Year.
