Visiting Florence

In a city synonymous with textiles - after all it was built on the wool trade - Florence managed to surprise and delight us for two weeks over Christmas.

One of my favourite visits was to Villa Bardini with its amazing views over the city. The top floor of the villa has been dedicated to the fashion designer Roberto Capucci, with a fabulous display of colour. Butterflies anyone?

Contemporary textiles were not the only delights. Collections of carpets and rugs, fragments of Coptic fabrics, silk wallpapers which graced the homes of the aristorcrats. There was so much to see (and to buy) that there was simply not enough time in the day for it all.

While we were there we embarked on a buying spree of vintage Missoni jackets and cardigans. I am now the proud owner of a beautiful reversible jacket and a jumper, along with some other purchases made along the way - a Tirolean jacket and sleeveless cardigan, which happens to go very well with my new Valentino 1980's badge!

Here are a few pictures of our wonderful trip. We cannot wait to get back....
