Fair Isle Bird Observatory and the fire

On a sad note, many of you will have heard of the devastating fire last week on Fair Isle. We have taken the textile tour to Fair Isle before, staying at the Bird Observatory which the fire has completely destroyed, and many of you have been in touch to ask about helping those who live and work at the Observatory. The Obs is insured and the plans are to rebuilt it with indications from UK Government that it would help, but in the interim it is a terrible loss for the island and the people of Fair Isle. There are fund-raising efforts out there which you can support but these are unofficial as far as I am aware. If anyone knows of a way that people can help to support the community please email and I will pass on the details in the blog.
