Plastics and fashion
In a study, undertaken by the Royal Society of Arts, plastic was found in clothing at very high levels.
The problem of plastic pollution is one that fast fashion needs to address urgently if it is to meet its own targets for sustainability, and yet shoppers may still be purchasing many items that contain elastane, polyester or other petrochemical plastics. Recycling would go some way to helping sustainability by mxing old and new fibres together but even that is not at a high enough level to really make a difference. As plastics are now seen as a real long-term problem in the oceans and on land it is past time to look for alternatives.
