A Shetlander's Fair Isle graph book
Last weekend, at the end of FestiYell, the studio was open for visitors. Two friends came by and they had a fantastic present for us!
Pat and Phil popped in and I was presented with a copy of A Shetlander's Fair Isle Graph Book produced by the Shetland Guild of Spinners, Knitters, Weavers and Dyers and printed by The Shetland Times. What an absolute treat! The book is an extravangza of colour; Fair Isle patterns and colourways from a very specific period in the knitwear industry taken from notebooks that belonged to Bill Henry of Anderson & Co. (Bill was from Gutcher where I live, incidentally.) This really is a beautiful book with inspiration for pattern and colour galore and now we have a copy at the studio. Thank you Pat and Phil, and congratulations to the Guild and Shetland Times for such an amazing publication. It is lovely to have heritage like this brought to the public's attention.
