Exhibitions and shows....

This week, we went to a lovely art opening at the Old Haa in Burravoe. Stuart Hannay was showing his paintings from the years that his family lived in France, and the colours are just what we needed on a cold night to warm us up! Stuart writes as well and his diary entries are interspersed with the paintings, funny, humorous and witty observations on life which really set the show off well.Â

I nipped upstairs for a quick look at the show which is all about work in Yell. One of the aspects is on weave, with lovely blankets and dressing gowns made by Tullochs in Yell. There is a fascinating account of how important weave was, and some photographs of weavers and equipment showing what a very vibrant industry weaving became in the isles.

The Old Haa is in Burravoe, Yell, and it is well worth taking the trip northwards along the east road with its stunning views across the sea, to see the two exhibitions.
